SURVIVAL OF OUR SPECIES

The problem in the Middle East that I have for years been trying to warn is likely to precipitate World War Three is that Israel is trying to steal Palestine from the Palestinians while the world watches, some nations like the USA openly assisting, others blindly and impotently as is traditional, watching the unfolding of these events.

This article expresses the real pain experienced by the Iranian people and speaks to the real issue in the Middle East.

Why should Israel be allowed to have nuclear weapons and be allowed to deny other nations this right, by the force of their arms?

To understand we must see also the Israeli point of view.

It is clear that no nation has been so oppressed, wounded and vilified as have been the Israeli people after the Romans applied the ultimate sanction that was routinely applied to any population that refused to accept the Pax Romana, that solution was genocide.

The difference being the Israeli people refused to go quietly into the good night of oblivion, they managed to retain their cohesion and solidarity in the Dispora, they remained united around the set of beliefs and values that they had developed.

Many Germanic peoples, Asian peoples and British tribes were erased by the Roman Empire for their refusal to accept the Pax Romana, a ultimate solution that has been universal down the long march of human history.

This was a tool used by every Empire, notably the British Empire, against the Irish, against the Zulus, against Native Americans, providing a plethora of evidence that throughout the long march of human history always might has been right.

The Jews survived and remained a nation, they survived the Shoah, the attempt by Hitler to commit genocide, to apply the ultimate sanction to these people.

Not only did they survive they grew strong, intellectually and philosophically, during the three and one half months I lived in Israel I encountered more intelligence, civility and merit than I have in the twenty five years that I have lived in the USA or the thirty eight years that I existed in Jamaica.

So I totally understand the viewpoint of Jews, on merit why should they not have a nation commiserate with their talents when they have made the desert bloom, where there was nothing they have created production and productivity?

But this is a world in which the dictum 'might is right' is no longer functional because human beings have created weapons of mass destruction, to which all human beings have access, to which Iran has access.

It is the application of this universal cultural imperative that has created the need for security in Iranians and Israelis for the ultimate deterrent, but I am saying futilely thus far, I completely understand your suffering and the validity of your plights; but we must from somewhere find the means to transcend our history of savagery and brutality, that history that is replete and redolent with savagery and brutality and see the other not as prey but as a being worthy of our respect and compassion.

For all of human history the dictum that 'might is right' has created these legitimate and wholly justified greviances, but now survival of the human species demands that we rise above these and walk a new road the road to peace and embrace a new dictum that 'right is might.'

The very survival of our species depends on it.

A decade ago I likened dependence on coercion to motivate the other as a snowball deposited high on a mountain of time that now has become an avalanche of absolutism that threatens to destroy the small village of human civility.

The SACRED MISSION of humanity is to turn around this avalanche, to somehow destroy its awesome momentum and monolithic weight in human affairs to not only survive but to realize our potential for peace and prosperity.

And this can only be accomplished by each individual human being changing the man or human in their mirrors by simply telling the truth and my obsessional commitment with this prescription is based on the fact that it has worked for me.
